The exobiology tried three ways of life outside the earth to prove.
Direct search within the solar system, and possibly transport a sample to Earth by space probes.
Search for the biological signature of life on exoplanets by astronomical observation methods. There are several indirect methods to infer life. It is assumed that certain molecular compounds can be produced only by living permanently. So if you find for example in the light spectrum (absorption spectrum) of a distant planet such molecules, which would be a strong indicator of life.
Search for signs of extraterrestrial technology. Clearly speak for example of life Signals of extraterrestrial civilizations, how they tried to find the SETI project. So far this project is granted, however, still no success, even if accepted, that there could be hundreds of civilizations in our galaxy alone (Milky Way). This number was determined using the Drake equation and is subject to considerable variability depending on the assumptions made.
