Stanley Kubrick accused of faking the the moon landings

Stanley Kubrick was accused of faking the the moon landings. Is this all nonsense, or could there really be truth in these accusations? The production process of "2001: A Space Odyssey" has remarkable similarities with the way the Apollo program. The film began production in 1964 and lasted until the theatrical release in 1968. The Apollo program was also launched in 1964 and reached its climax with the moon landing on 20 July 1969. Also interesting: The space explorer Frederick Ordway, who worked for NASA on the Apollo program, was alsothe authoritative scientific consultant for the production of "2001".

After the contract was negotiated, in Kubrick got to work. The biggest challenge was for him the "outdoors" ison the moon, had to look as realistic as possible. The pictures should show vast, vast landscapes.Everything should look like actually filmed on the moon, and not somewhere on a Studiogelände.WasKubrick tried everything, nobody knows. Ultimately, he decided to turn all of the "outdoors" on the Earth and Moon with front projection. On the image, footage of the Apollo missions, the traces of this cinema-animation techniques can be seen everywhere.
