The flying saucer UFO wave 1947

On June 24th, 1947, at about 15:00 local time, the pilot Kenneth Arnold sighted nine unidentified flying objects in the form of "flat" at Mount Rainier.
Arnold said the objects moved like jumping flat on the water, forms thin, flat disc-shaped. (Also "flat cake" "cake pan" and "crescent shape") - see the article for a detailed description Kenneth Arnold. Three days later, the term "flying saucers" and "flying plates" for the first time appeared in newspapers and became the preferred terms to identify the phenomenon for some years, then replaced by UFOs between 1950 and 1960. Although he was impressed by their incredible speed and movement, initially did not think Arnold EIT, stating:
"I thought at that time were designed new types of aircraft, even though I was puzzled by the fact that they did not have a tail. Passed directly in front of me, but at a distance of about 37 km altitude, which is not excessive. I judged their 30-meter wingspan. At that moment their flight did not bother me, although I had never seen veivoli of that type. "
Then Arnold considered the possibility that the objects were of extraterrestrial origin. That same year, 1950 interviewed by the journalist Edward R. Murrow Arnold added: "... If you have not realized due to our scientific progress or the Air Force, I am inclined to believe in extraterrestrial origin."
