1966 to 1968 studied in the U.S. Air Force as a designated independent research team, led by the quantumphysicist Edward U. Condon, the UFO phenomenon at the University of Colorado, based on a 500,000 dollarcontract. In the final report, Condon concluded: "Over the past 21 years, UFO research has contributed nothingto our scientific knowledge base ... why can not a continuation of UFO research is likely justified with the expectation that it will bring scientific progress."
On this basis, the Air Force ended Project Blue Book in 1969 and found that
"After twenty-two years of investigation ... none of the announced and investigated unknown objects a danger to our national security."
However, the investigation ended in a scandal over the publication of the so-called 'low-memorandum' in the press. The memo by Robert Low, an employee of Condon, described the plan, the UFO investigation only pretended to perform objective, but to ultimately arrive at a fixed a priori result. Officially, the U.S. government after the Condon Report, no further investigations of UFOs, conducted and no other interest in the phenomenon.
